In installment 4 of our free online guitar lessons, we'll introduce the 3rd, or ring, finger. We'll continue to use the easy guitar chords that you used in the earlier lessons.
And, as in the other lessons, there are acoustic guitar tabs and another of our free video guitar lessons.
Learning to use the 3rd finger will add another dimension to your playing. A lot of fingerstyle guitar music can be played with the thumb and first 2 fingers. But there are some things that can't be played without using the ring finger.
As in all of the previous lessons:
- Try to have equal volume from all of the notes
- Play off of the left side of your fingertips
- Be aware of proper right hand and left hand position
- Grab the full chord, even if you're not playing all of the note's in it
You will need a TEF viewer to see the music for this lesson. You can download it free here.
There's a MIDI playback of the tab available. Just click on the loudspeaker icon, then hit play in the new window.
